  • Here are some I think are great: Gloria Mayfeild Banks, Melva Slythe, Rena Tarbet. I also love hearing the queens at seminar, they always seem to have the most inspiring stories to motivate! Also love Tammy Crayk and Lisa Madson. You?

  • The same ones!!!!!!!

  • I wanted to add this new lady by the name of Cory Kinchloe she has an excellent traning!! I listened to her one month wonder story and you have GOT to hear it. She is still in the company and during DIQ she offsprang a director. The reason I like her is she says that its the 200.00 orders that keep the unit going (I have never heard a director say that) and she says she respects the prospective clients wishes if they dont want to become a IBC! She did 21,000 in production in 21 days BUT hear me out she has kept at this momentum since she started and has not dissapeared off of the face of the earth. She is married and has two children so there is some income coming in since her husband works but her story was so honest that it impressed me that she was a one month wonder. She said she was tired and worked hard but she was focused and there are no secrets she said just good old fashioned hard work and she also admitted that the BIG money is in recruiting but I will post the number its a taped call if you want it.
I think it will change your outlook on what you can and cannot do if you want it badly enough.

  • I would love you to post the number! That is very inspiring and reaffirms what I already knew! You become as successful as you want to be in this business!!

  • One Month Wonder? My Story … (new 2/7/2006!!!)
WOW! When I started this business, I only knew that I did NOT want to put my children in a day care facility, to be raised by someone else. I was told that I could have a successful Mary Kay business, and still be a “stay-at-home mom” . Of course, I was skeptical, but also committed to putting forth the effort to see the results!! And WOW – all I can say is that this has been an amazing ride!

First, some background – I signed my agreement the week of Thanksgiving, 2004. And then, due to the onset of the holiday season, didn’t really even think about beginning my business until January 2005. I attended a one-day “jump-start” retreat in Orange County, and this is where I really caught the vision and saw the possibilities.

In the month of February I added 5 personal team members, and attended Career Conference in March as a Team Leader. I committed to starting DIQ on April 1st, and added 3 more during March, which gave me the 8 personal active that I needed. With the encouragement and guidance of my Sr. Director, Michelle Stravolo, and our NSD, Sherry Giancristoforo, I submit for DIQ starting April 1st. From that point forward, I was a booking machine. I saw the faces. I sold the product. And I shared my dream. WITH EVERYONE!! Amazingly, on April 21st, we had our 30 active team members and over $16,000 in team production in!!! But I didn’t even think about “being finished” at that point! As a matter of fact, by the end of the month, we had over $25,000 in team production, and more than the 30 minimum team members. I had even unknowingly set a record in our National Area, as the first “One-Month Wonder”. And then, I had the pleasure of having my beautiful sister-in-law, LeAnn Roughton, follow in my footsteps and submit for DIQ on May 1st, and also finish in one month, debuting as my offspring Sales Director on June 1, 2005!! Again unknowingly, I had set another record in our National Area, becoming the “fastest” to rise to the position of Sr. Sales Director!!

I am often asked how I did it, and what was my “magic ingredient” that came inside MY starter kit! I laugh, because we all start at the same place!! But I was asked to do a conference call with one of my sister sales directors, Polly Pace. This call has been recorded, and you may listen to it if you wish!!

Here is the number to call, if you would like to hear it:

    641-297-4800 Access Code 7794#

It is about 20 – 30 minutes long, and it is my hope that it may encourage YOU to follow your dream, and make it happen!!!

You will like her story!!! This is unlike any one month wonder that I have ever heard when you hear it you will know what I mean.
    Colleen

  • Thank you so much for posting that! I LOVE how she wrote that even though her production was met, she wasn’t finished yet!! That kind of “go-get-em” attitude and wanting to do even more than what is required is rare these days, even in directors! I hope this story inspires everyone who reads this blog! We can all learn a lot from this story.

  • My AWESOME National, Gloria Mayfield Banks, the Future National Keita Powell & the Awesome Ann Shears. I love them not only b/c of where they are in the business, but also b/c of what they’ve overcome to get to where they are. They are also very personable women. Since Gloria’s my National, I can talk to her anytime that I want… well, not really – she usually has to get back to me – but the point is that she does. I also attend Keita Powell’s Success Meetings and she always has an open ear and an encouraging word. Ann Shears… she’s just super bad inside and out!!!

  • Love! Love! Love! Pam Shaw, Kathy Goff, Tammy Crayk, Sherrill Steinman, Dacia Weigandt and Linda Toupin

  • I would say being new again NSD Emeritus Shirley Hutton and ENSD Gloria Mayfield Banks! I have visited Gloria’s site although she’s not my national and pulled out some great ideas from her. When I was first introduced to MK I heard Shirley speak in my hometown. In fact, her daughter is now a NSD and she resides in my hometown too.

  • I love my NSD–Kathy Helou! I’ve met her in person on several occasions and she is so nice and down-to-earth. I also love Gloria Mayfield Banks and I hope to meet her one of these days. Others: Lisa Madson, Linda Toupin, Debi Moore, Sabrina Goodwin-Monday, Linda Bradley. There are lots of directors that I think overcame a lot in DIQ. So many amazing women in this business! Sorry to gush. But I just couldn’t help it. :P

  • I loved Mattie Dozier at Sapphire Seminar. She was so real and HILARIOUS!

  • I’m in the diamond seminar and I love NSD Diana Sumpter. She has so much energy! Her motivation is amazing! Other NSD’s I love to learn from: Tammy Crayk, Stacy James, and Emeritus NSD Arlene Lenarz and Anne Newbury.

  • LOL I was doing a google search for Linda Bradley and this link was near the top of the list with part of my previous comment! (I guess that’s a DUH since I mentioned her here)

  • Gloria Mayfield Banks and hands down Diana Sumpter.
I know there are some nationals like Lisa Madson and Pam Shaw and everyone likes them but I think Diana Sumpter is an unsung hero. If you listen to her training its not intimidating and she never sounds like she is a hotshot she is very real.

  • I love Susan Brothers she is AWESOME! she was great at Diamond seminar. I also realy like pam Saw WOW huh a new record.

  • Jennifer Semelsberger. She DOES what everyone else TALKS about doing. Read her “I story” and you can see that she, too, had a LOT to overcome. She became a “million dollar Director” in just three short years, and her WHOLE EMPHASIS is on selling, selling, selling. She has also had a least one offspring Director each year, so she is leading by example. kmh

  • P.S. Did I mention that she is off right now on her THIRD Top Director Trip?! That is consistency in MK. smile

  • There is a woman who was on MK Survivors and she used to be a director (she is no longer) and SHE said that Jen is pretty honest and walks the walk and talks the talk.

  • kmhchimo,
I have a question, where can I read her I-story?
    Thanx!!!

  • Now NSD Emeritus Anne Newbury. Down to earth, down to business, tell it like it is, from the heart, straight-talkin’, no bones about it woman. Very forthright in her presentation and business approach. Gracious speaker as well.

  • “of all thing ’s beautiful, YOU are the most!”

  • Hi everyone!!! I was bored and googled my moms name and to my surprise this wonderful website came up among the pages that my mom is mentioned on. I wasn’t aware that a mkrules website had been started and it warms my heart sooo much to see such amazing women spreading the dream and publicly sharing the examples of what wonderful things Mary Kay has brought into your lifes. It doesn’t work for everyone and that is fine, but it’s so sad that those people feel that they need to be so cruel and hurtful and put negative energy into a world that needs so much love. I applaud all of you for taking a stand.
    All my love,
    Nikki Crayk

  • P.S. My mom, Tammy Crayk is obviously my role model!!!!

  • I love my director, future National: Jen Semelsberger! If you haven’t heard her I-Story, check it out!~ We’re on unitnet.com
    VERY encouraginG!

  • This is awsome.I have been a IBC for two years.I am very close to my Director Darlene Juliana. We are best friends a result from a fish bowl at a restaurant.I was a personal recruit of hers.I have sat on the side benches for some time.Waiting until I was ready.Although she has taught me very well and I am often asked by people about ideas to finish their car or finish DIQ,I really dont know why I was not ready. All my ideas where used to get others where they wanted to go and yes I have been disappointed in myself that I did not take them myself. Now the end on December 2008 I am ready.I have a goal to be a Strong Director by April First 2009.My two faviorte role models are Darlene Juliana and her Daughter Kristen Myres. They are also my 12year old daughter Gina’s role models and have them in her life has been a blessing. She is only 12 and has laucheched her own bussiness. She is making purses out of recycled clothing and with her scraps quilting blankets for rest homes and shelters. They have taught her the importance of giving and it brings tears to my eyes. She has already planned on being my offspring by age of 19.I know she qwell do it.
Sorry I guess I talk a bit to much
