Too much MK?

Some claim that the MK market is saturated, meaning there is too much product distributed and too many consultants in one area.  I say this is false.  Living in the heart of the MK kingdom, Dallas, I STILL find that many people have never even used MK!  Perhaps instead of thinking there are too many consultants, we should focus on the numerous women who could just use some pampering or even just a new eye shadow for fun.  As far as actual numbers go, I don’t think there are too many consultants.  I have often thought, “Another Wal-Mart?  Another McDonald’s?”  But yet they all get their fair share of the market.  The same is true with us.  If we put this product on faces, people will want some.  That will take good, old fashioned WORK, if you can call it that!

So I ask again, is there too much MK?  It is amazing what can make a woman feel good.  If you ask me, there can never be too much MK.  As long as women want to feel more self confident and pretty, MK will have a place in this world.  You don’t have to go to a mall and take your makeup off in front of the entire community, you can instead be treated to trying all of our newest products at home before you buy them.  Many people love that service and the one on one attention.  So until every woman I meet feels beautiful, confident, and cared for, I will not call our market “saturated”–  we still have work to do!

  • Funny you should mention this it seems like there is a LOT of growth going on in TX that is where Miss LeMarr is! Texas is a BIG state and my director is from Fort Worth and SHE even told me that there are still people in TX who have not tried MK and this woman is honest she is not a liar so I have to agree
    with you

  • colleen you are one cool chick. I am so glad you got my meaning with this post. If people are still buying other brands and switching day to day, we can get a piece of the pie!

  • Thanks for calling me a cool chick I think we have the same ideals and principles you rock MK Rules!!!

  • Well you are! I love the fucshia blog too. I noticed you comment there lots. She has a lot of great things to say.

  • I have to get into the habit of commenting on yours as much too. Im going to go ahead and come with some new topics for tomorrow. We always talk about directors lets talk about the VIBE program and get Rebecca to put some numbers together and see how doable it is..we have to get the word out about this blog and hers

  • Numbers on the Vibe program? Hmmmm. Now numbers on market saturation I have! I’ve been thinking of post those on my blog.

I believe that the market will become saturated with Mary Kay, oh, about the same time the market is saturated with McDonald’s.

People eat at McDonald’s. The body does it’s thing with the food. People gotta to eat more McDonald’s.

People use Mary Kay. Wash it off and down the drain it goes. People gotta go buy more MK.

  • Hey rebecca you hear all of these consultants on the
anti mk blog say they are not making money is it because of bad money management?

  • OK I know you are asking Rebecca, but I think it is because most consultants do not try to hold parties. They think they can make oodles with just selling on the go. It doesn’t work that way. When you ask on MKV how many parties anyone does, the numbers are so low it is frightening and makes you wonder who is selling!

  • MKRules, yes, not enough parties could be one reason. Let me rephrase that, not enough selling appointments in whatever form the customer wants.

Here are some other reasons consultants, directors are not making money:

    1. Too much discounting
    2. Giving away too many free products
    3. Going to too many events – these all cost money.
    4. Not doing customer follow-up calls, customer service
    5. Ordering too much product. Yes, there are those who order more product even though their sales do not justify another order.
    6. Their expenses are too many and too high.
    7. Focusing primarily on recruiting instead of selling.

That’s my opinion, based on my observations and conversations.

  • the market can never be saturated because even though there may be many consultants in one area, not all of them are working their business like they should.

  • When you think of ALL of the teenagers and women and men in the world its not saturated..some areas yes some others no.
