Ok, first of all, let me begin with what how bad I was at booking,
holding, and getting referrals. I was BAD. Not to say I didn’t try, I
think I just didn’t know what to say or how to say it. I would book
from fishbowls, booking maybe only 2 per week, with maybe holding one
appt. All others fell through. At the appt, I was too afraid of being
pushy to get referrals. So as you can guess, that one booking would
never turn into more.
Recently, I decided to start a new referral program (this has been done
in MK before, but I had never used it). It is similar to the secret
pal programs that are out there, only I do not keep the gift giver a
secret.
At my parties, I do the skin care class. Then I do the purse game for
tickets for prizes. Then I say, “There is another way to get tickets
for the prizes. I give out lots of gift certificates each month in
order to meet new people.” I hand out the pamper your pal sheets.
“Hostess, can you please read the top of the paper I just handed
out?”. They read it. I say, “Ok so everyone grab your cell phone and
put down as many names and numbers as you can in order to get as many
tickets as you can! Plus, you will be earning free MK and be giving
your friends free stuff as well!” They always begin to write them
down. Some only give a few…5 or so. Many fill up the paper or even
write on the back! Tonight, I got 137 referrals from 7 young ladies
(ages 18-21). I made sure every referral was 18 yrs or older.
NOW, last week I called 30 referrals and got 10 bookings! Can you
imagine how many I will get now???? It blows my mind. Look to the
next article for the script I have been using to book ‘em

OK. I’m a little slow. I just found this post. Sorry! This is the same approach I use. I’m going to keep trying! Thanks so much for sharing!

I think where I differ from most is I do not say “facial”, “pampering session”, “makeover” anymore! I only say they get together with me to pick out their free stuff. This works much better.

Uptowngirl,
I think what MKR means (at least this is what I do), is that she plays various games at her classes to make them more fun and the guests can win tickets (I went to Office Max and got this HUGE roll of tickets for like $5-10). She then does drawings for prizes. The prizes I use are old discontinued product, old PCP gifts, etc. My prizes cost me no more than $3-5. MKR I think uses cheap stuff (that doesn’t look cheap) that she gets at the Dollar Store.

I have done that in the past (found supplies/gifts at the dollar store). They often have inexpensive, cute, small gifty-type things, or wrapping, bags, ribbons, etc. to dress up discontinued travel-size products or samplers.
